This scene features four film stills from three movies. The first is Bill Murray as Raleigh St. Clair from the Royal Tenenbaums. It’s perhaps most notable for being the only frame in the movie I could find where he’s smiling. Still two is John Hawkes as Richard Swersey from Miranda July’s “Me and You and Everyone We Know.” Still three is Charlotte Gainsbourg as Claire in Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan film “I’m Not There”. Still four is Heath Ledger as one of the Dylan’s from the Haynes film. Each picture acts like a visual lighting gel, coloring the words above them in specific ways.

From the Archives: Hydrofracking New York

In September of last year, I tackled the issue of hydraulic fracturing with a six-part series designed to inform residents of New York on the potential benefits and risks.  With the issue still hotly contested, it remains a useful series for those looking to inform themselves.
