Hillary, if desire equated to competence,
\nyou’d sit at the right hand of the Father.
\nIf yearning were the formula,
\nyou’d cure the atom bomb.<\/p>\n
The shrewd ambiguities \u2013
\nthe “mist peak” \u2013
\nthe vague side of the valley.
\nTo live in the murk
\nof our languages failures,
\na candidate minus the “candid” bit.<\/p>\n
Supporters forgive citing business as usual
\nunwilling to purchase the fact
\nthat just because failings have governed their lifetimes
\ndoes not mean we can’t take it back.
\nAnd so
\nyou’ve been gifted a mandate.
\nA permanently winking eye and nudging elbow,
\na voice spayed of substance,
\nof guilt, of blame,
\nof truth, of shame.
\nLying means little when cast as a symbol,
\nA relic of old guard nostalgia.<\/p>\n
To me, you’re the cat I often walk past
\non my way to the Korean drug store.
\nIt’s gold and inscripted and waves
\nas though gifted with endless
\nreserves for campaigning.
\nI heard it took a slug to the spine
\non a USO tour and retired
\nto tasks more forgiving.
\nWhen asked of it, it smiles
\nand waves and never complains,
\nthus its actions take on weighted meanings.<\/p>\n
I reckon that’s where you and it differ.<\/p>\n
